With the holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about all of those presents you need to buy.  This year use our list of 27 Ways To Save Money On Christmas to help you stay in budget and still be able to give the gifts you want to your friends and family.  Think outside the box, plan ahead and give amazing gifts to your loved ones this holiday season.

27 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON CHRISTMAS

This idea, MAY not help you this year, but doing the 52-week challenge is a great and EASY way to save money. Each week you set aside some money (like week 1, you set aside $1, week 2, $2 bucks and forth.). It’s a great way to save money without putting a lot of effort into it.   • Use Coupons
  • Sign Up For Store Rewards Programs/ also use cashback apps (where you get cashback for buying items already on your list throughout the year. I usually save my cashback for Christmas).
  • Shop Clearance
  • Shop Second Hand Stores For Products New With Tags
  • Shop eBay

  • Make gifts in a jar {I actually like to make hygiene/personal gift baskets using items that I received for free/cheap w/ my coupons}

  • Crochet or knit scarves, shawls, blankets and more
  • Create a Custom Monogrammed Canvas print with their initials (cheap, fun and easy to make with stencils, burlap and paint
  • Buy in bulk & divide for more gifts.  Things like kitchen towels, canisters, glasses and more can be purchased in bulk and personalized for individuals. {Black Friday is a great time to find cheap deals}
  • Offer services from your business.  Do you own a business? Offer services from your daycare, construction business or bakery as a gift.
  • Sew pillows & tablecloths
  • Barter for products from other local artisans
  • Offer housekeeping or cooking services instead of a material gift
  • Volunteer in their honor at a local community group, shelter or other location they are passionate about.
  • Combine sales with coupons in store
  • Shop end of season sales year round
  • Shop tax-free weekends at back to school season
  • Buy display items when others aren’t in stock (most stores give a 10% discount)
  • Use a friends discount.  This one is if you know someone who works for a store and you can provide them with the money to purchase for you.  Some stores offer great discounts to employees and some employees are willing to buy for you using their discounts

  • Shop at grocery stores.  This is one people don’t realize often.  Grocery stores often have great deals on housewares, candy, cooking utensils and more during holiday events.
  • Create Gift Baskets from the dollar store.  A $1 basket filled with a cookie mix, spatula and pot holder is a great under $5 gift everyone will love!
  • Buy only for the kids instead of the whole family
  • Exchange names for adults gifts
  • Buy family gifts instead of gifts for each individual
  • Make unique ornaments for each person.  A box of plain ornaments, some paint and a few embellishments is only $10 or less.  That can create 10-12 ornaments for gifts in no time.

  • Offer to babysit for them.  This is especially great for single parents.

    Christmas is a time when a lot of budgets really get out of control! These are great ideas–thanks for sharing them! I love to gather ideas for Christmas gifts I can make at home. A handmade gift is really meaningful as well as frugal!
