Easy Ways to Save Money In Your Home

Saving money is often thought of as an act we do when out and about. It’s something we think of when we are at a store, out to dinner or on vacation. However, some of the best ways you can save money start right at home and they won’t interrupt your day-to-day life. Here are 6 ways to get you started!

Cut your Cable. You can still enjoy lots of your favorite shows on a streaming service such as Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime. And, you will save a lot of money not watching cable tv in the long run. Most streaming services are less than $10 a month and I bet you can’t find a cable or satellite company out there with a cheaper price. Streaming devices start at less than $30.

Go back to basics with cleaning. Some of the most effective cleaning products I have ever used have been the cheapest. Just having baking soda and vinegar in your cleaning caddy can do 90% of cleaning jobs on your list and if you are worried that they won’t clean well enough, keep in mind that vinegar is extremely effective at killing germs and bacteria.

Lower your electrical bill with simple changes. Most people think that lowering your electric bill is only important during the winter when high bills from heating happen, but there really is no need to skip paying attention during warmer months. Simple things like having the right drapes or opening your windows at night to let cool air in can really add up to big savings for your summer electrical bill.

Since we are on the subject of summer heat, why not drink more water when the weather gets hot? Water is nearly free and it is better for you! Sodas won’t really quench your thirst because the caffine in them actually makes you more dehydrated. If you are not a fan of plain water, try mixing it up a bit with some infusions of cucumber, strawberry or even watermelon for a burst of fresh flavor without a ton of calories.

Re-use as much as you can. If you can recycle and re-use many of the items you bring home around your house, you will be saving yourself money from having to buy products to use for the same purpose. For instance, those plastic shopping bags you get from the store make excellent lines for small trash bins, a great place to put wet swimming suits after your children get out of the pool to avoid getting your car wet and are excellent for cleaning out the litter box.

Use less of the products you buy. You may be unaware, but you are probably using too much shampoo, toothpaste and toilet paper. This adds up to having to buy more throughout the month. Instead, use the least amount you can to get the job done and you will find that most of your products last longer.
