Best Place to stay in Traverse City- Cambria Suites Review

Best Place to Stay in Traverse City {Cambria Suites Review}

Being a lifelong resident of Michigan, one becomes accustomed to the Tim Allen-narrated Pure Michigan advertisements we hear so much. The downfall of living anywhere is after a while (in my case 30+ years) the novelty can wear off.

Not that Michigan is a bad state to live in, but after a while… eh.
On a recent Pure Michigan Blogger trip to the Traverse City area, I discovered the 26th state to be much more than I imagined. It was like someone pulled the dust covers off of Michigan and presented me with a state made new.

Overkill?

Not really and here’s why. Whatever happened, it was darn near magical, and it took place in Traverse City.

Drive To Traverse City
As a longtime resident of Michigan, I know the beauty of our autumns here. So, as I drove along the western ridge of our Mitten State, my eyes were entertained by the wonderful russets, golds and burnished reds of the changing and falling foliage. And the further north I went the more vibrant and brilliant the color schemes. The drove was literally me leaving behind the smoke stacks of industry and the heavy traffic and congestion of city life and tooling peacefully into a more tranquil form of living. Yes, the drive alone was a kind of “visual therapy”. Also, the surprising realization is that it doesn’t take long to escape the hustle and bustle of urban trappings. You have probably heard how people describe Traverse City as being the crown jewel of northern Michigan and yes, it is true.
I was lodged at the Cambria Suites and when I pulled up, even from the outside, I knew I was in for a treat.

First Impressions go a long way, and right away the hotel staff scored major points in friendliness and efficiency. Checking in was quick and uncomplicated, just the way it should be. Honestly, though, I could have camped out in the spacious and comfy lobby area and been just fine. But when I walked into my suite I banished all thoughts of being anywhere else (for the moment).

My room was well appointed, and an ingenious half- wall separated the sleeping area from the sitting area. The sitting area had a flat-screen TV.

Did I mention I had my very own King size bed? Standing at 5-feet and eleven inches having a large bed made this woman smile big-time. And like the wide open spaces of the Michigan north the suites mirrored the same theme, but on a slightly smaller scale. These are not minuscule accommodations; they are roomy, and I relished every single inch.

The bathroom was like having my mini-spa. I loved the pristine and modern sink, and the bath had products from Bath & Body Works. Um, yeah!

There was even a side table on which sat a Keurig. Yes, I may just hole up here all winter. Overall, my room was a tasteful mix of understated elegance and subdued modernity.

Not bad, not bad at all.
After I had freshened up, I met up with friends to explore a bit, but let me talk about Cambria Suites for a beat or two.
My stay here was beyond pleasant and one reason why: Reflect Bistro.

Have you heard the old saying, “ the kitchen is the soul of a home”? Well, this hotel restaurant is the heart and soul of Cambria Suites, and the food is delicious (understatement). And really, for me, they had me at good local wines. But they went beyond good wine and provided the ultimate comfort food in the form of an outstanding Mac-n-Cheese {my FAV!!!}. Smile and yum, please.

I came away feeling pampered without feeling like an outsider. The staff is what makes the Cambria unique. I had a great time in Traverse City, and the Cambria Suites was a way to start my adventure there.

And for the money, you really get so much more, and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone. So when you’re searching for hotel deals and the Best Place to Stay in Traverse City, think Cambria Suites. I promise you that you will not be disappointed! Traverse City is the reason our dear thumb is pointing up and not down. Yep, Pure Michigan.
