5 Easy Ways to Save on Holiday Lights
1. Swap with friends. Are you tired of the lights you used last year? Instead of buying new, trade lights with friends. Find someone else who is looking for a fresh look and has gently used lights they can trade you. This is a great way to get a new look at no cost.
2. Check out thrift stores. Thrift stores typically have a large selection of holiday décor for less. Cruise in to your local thrift shop and see what you can find. Always test lights before you purchase them since they are used. You also want to check the cord for damage. If both of these areas check out ok, make those thrifty lights yours!
3. Opt for LED. Spend a little more money on LED lights so they last you longer. As mentioned they will cost more than regular lights, but they will last you much longer. They also use less energy, saving you money on your electric bill. It is a win/win situation.
4. Find coupons. Think you can’t find coupons for holiday lights? Think again! While you won’t find lights specifically for holiday lights, you can find coupons for % off your general purchase. Keep your eyes peeled for coupons for Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and more. You can save up to 40% off your package of lights.
5. Buy early for next year. When lights go on clearance at the end of the season, be sure to stock up. While you may not be able to use them this year, they will come in handy next year. Just store them safely and enjoy the lights that you purchased for up to 90% off. {This is what I do. If I know I am going to need new lights or changing my theme, I wait and buy it after Christmas!}
