Grilled Cheese + Blueberries Strangewich
We’re in the count down for back to school to begin for the 2017 season! As you prepare to get buy school supplies, clothes, and other important items kids need for school, don’t forget about savoring those last few days of summer. Our summer has been filled with a ton of great memories, including getting a new chocolate labradoodle puppy named Chance.
Two out of three of our boys love grilled cheese sandwiches. Derrick typically makes their grilled sandwiches the traditional way, with butter, cheese, and bread. However, Hellmann’s recently came out with a variety of sandwiches, called strangewiches, which includes a sweet way to make grilled cheese sandwiches.
As a little girl, I LOVED grilled cheese sandwiches. My dad used to make them for me, and then when I get married, my husband started to make them for me. Being able to continue this tradition with our boys is important. The kitchen area is the hub of our home. This is where delicious meals are created, and where kids will come hang out while we’re in the kitchen preparing meals.
Food is fuel. Food is also used to engage our kids in meaningful conversations.
Partnering with Kroger and Hellmann’s, Zayd’n and I checked out the variety of strangewich recipes, and we both wanted to try their grilled cheese + blueberries.
I like to use any chance I get to sit down and talk to the boys. They are growing up, and soon will be gone from the nest (sigh…). It’s important to carve out time to savor each and every moment with your child(ren).
We were able to head to our nearest Kroger store to pick up the ingredients we needed to make this unique Hellmann’s strangewich. Take a look at the recipe below, and you can also find more super cool varieties by going here.

Our recipe is adapted from Hellmann’s Grilled Cheese + Blueberries Strangewich
We were curious about blueberries would pair well with cheese, but it’s actually pretty good. The blueberry syrup mixture makes the grilled cheese sweet. Plus, using gruyere cheese created a cheesy goodness, mixed with sweet blueberries, equals epic grilled cheese strangewich!
These strangewich ideas are great for lunch and even dinner. Plus, these ideas are a filling after school snack too!

This sounds really interesting. I’ve never had a fruity grilled cheese before, but I do love cheddar on my apple pie crust. I’d love to try it.
I love using Hellman’s for our grilled cheese. Although I don’t think I ever would have imagined putting blueberries on one. Its definitely a different flavor I’m sure.
My grandsons love anything “grilled cheese” and anything “blueberry.” So I’m guessing they would wolf these right down. I’ll have to pass this along to my daughter for a trial!
This sandwich looks amazing! Nothing beats a good grilled cheese, and I bet that added sweetness from the fruit mixture is perfect.
Yes please! I’ve never tried this before, but I have a feeling I’d LOVE it. What a fantastic combination.
Strangewich, LOL! I love this. What a great idea. Maybe I’ll surprise the hubby with this for dinner.
This sounds sooooooooo yummy and delicious. I’m addicted to grilled cheese and I love the idea of adding blueberries 🙂
Heck yeah! This does not seem strange to me at all although I love the idea behind calling them that. Mixing cheese with berries has always been my thing. I am totally making this and have the Hellmann’s in the fridge ready to go!
This is such an interesting idea for a sandwich. I bet it tastes great. I will have to get the ingredients I need to make this on the weekend.
This is the first time I’ve seen a grilled cheese blueberry sandwich! When I read it I though “Uhhhm” then I saw it and though “Ohhh”
We’ll have to try it out!
Ok this combination actually looks so amazing to me!! I want to try it like yesterday!! I am so making this tomorrow!!
I’ve never tried blueberries on my grilled cheese sandwiches before but it sounds delicious!! I need to try this!!
Oh my, that looks awesome. Blueberries and cheese go well together. I can’t wait to try this.
My dad always made the BEST grilled cheese sandwiches. I would have never thought to make them this way. This actually sounds delish!
Oh my goodness! This is really fantastic and tempting! I wanna grab it from my screen right now.
This sounds like such an interesting combination. I would really like to try this pairing because it combines two of my favorite foods!
That is an unusual idea! I do love fruit and cheese and crackers, though – so I can see how this could work!
That does sounds strange but it looks really good! I might have to try that for myself.
Love the “squeeze” bottle feature of the mayo jar! It always seems the last little bit in a normal jar is covered in gross crumbs. This style totally eliminates that!
oh, lala! I have never tried this combination before. I would definitely love to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Ooooooooo! I’m going try this. I bet it is good and I wonder about a tart tasting cheese. THank you for sharing because cheese toast is my favorite. – yolonda
Oh my, that looks absolutely delish! Our son is a huge fan of grilled cheese and I think he’ll love it even more with blueberries in it.
This is an interesting concoction indeed! I’m not a mayonnaise fan, but the blueberries and cheese don’t sound half bad.
