Meijer Meal Planning Week 1/21: 6 Meals $44 Bucks

For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

Meal 1: Manwich Hoagies  $9.77

  • 2 lb ground chuck
  • 2 cans Manwich sauce
  • 1 loaf French bread

Directions:  Brown the ground chuck and drain.  Add the sauce and bring to a simmer.  Cut the bread open slightly, lengthwise.  Stuff the meat into the bread and cut into 4 sandwiches.  The meat can be cooked ahead and simmered in a slow cooker on low for 4-6 hours.

Meal 2:  Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps  $4.46

  • 1 ½ lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, minced
  • 2 T olive or sesame oil
  • 1 red pepper, seeded and diced
  • 1 C cooked rice (pantry)
  • 2 T soy sauce (pantry)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 1 T hoisin sauce (pantry)
  • 1 head Romaine lettuce, broken into leaves and washed
  • Sweet chili sauce, optional (pantry)

Directions:  Cook the chicken and pepper in the oil until cooked through.  Add the rice, sauces, and garlic.  Stir well and heat through.  Serve in the lettuce leaves topped with sweet chili sauce, if desired.

Meal 3:  Ham with Squash and Vegetables  $9.32

  • 7 lb Cook’s shank ham
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen vegetables, any variety
  • 1 butternut squash, cut in half lengthwise and seeded
  • 4 T butter (pantry)
  • 4 T brown sugar (pantry)

Directions:  Place the ham in a deep baking dish and cover tightly with foil.  Bake in a 375°F oven for 2 hours.  Place the squash in a baking dish.  Place the butter and brown sugar in the seed cavity, cover with foil, and bake in the oven for 1 hour.  Prepare the vegetables as desired.  Refrigerate leftover ham for the next meal.

Meal 4:  Tortellini with Ham and Peas  $6.24

  • 1 bag Meijer frozen tortellini
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen petite peas
  • 1 jar Prego Alfredo 3 Cheese sauce
  • 2 C diced ham

Directions:  Boil the tortellini in water until barely tender; drain.  Mix all of the ingredients in a casserole dish.  Bake in a 350°F oven for 40 minutes or until bubbly.  Serve with parmesan, if desired.

Meal 5:  Spare Ribs with Fries  $7.85

  • 2 lb spare ribs
  • 1 bottle Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen French fries

Directions:  Place the ribs on a rack in a 9×13 baking dish.  Spread half the barbecue sauce on the top and 1 C water in the bottom of the pan.  Cover tightly with foil and bake in a 325°F oven for 2 hours.  Uncover and increase the heat to 425°F.  Baste with barbecue sauce and bake another 15 minutes.  Prepare the fries as directed on the package.

Meal 6:  Herb Baked Chicken with Cucumber Tomato Salad and 3 Cheese Potatoes  $6.38

  • 1 ½ lb boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 T oregano (pantry)
  • ½ t garlic powder (pantry)
  • ½ t marjoram (pantry)
  • ½ t basil (pantry)
  • ½ t salt (pantry)
  • ½ t pepper (pantry)
  • 1 cucumber, peeled and sliced
  • 1 lb tomatoes on the vine, diced
  • ¼ C red wine vinegar (pantry)
  • 3 T olive oil (pantry)
  • Salt and pepper (pantry)
  • 1 box Betty Crocker 3 Cheese potatoes (with ingredients, per directions)
  • Directions:  Place the chicken in a baking dish.  In a small bowl, mix the seasonings.  Sprinkle on the chicken, cover with foil, and bake in a 375°F oven for 1 hour or until no pink remains in the thickest part of the chicken.  Place the cucumber, tomato, vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mix well.  Prepare the potatoes as directed on the package.

This week, six mouthwatering meals will cost only $44.02!
