For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry! You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)
- This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
- All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )
It’s Christmas week, and time to have some simple recipes that you can make to feed your family while not breaking the bank or taking time away from festivities!
Meal 1: Slow Cooker Meatball Sliders and Chips $11.02
- 1.5 lb ground beef
- 1 egg (pantry)
- ½ C breadcrumbs (pantry)
- ½ t salt (pantry)
- ¼ t pepper (pantry)
- 1 T Montreal steak seasoning (pantry)
- 1 T olive oil (pantry)
- 1 bottle barbecue sauce
- 1 pkg Pepperidge Farms slider rolls
- 1 bag Meijer potato chips, any flavor
Directions: Meatballs can be made ahead and refrigerated after baking. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef and egg until thoroughly mixed. Add the breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and steak seasoning. Mix well. Form into 12 meatballs and place on a baking tray that has been drizzled with the olive oil. Bake in a 425°F oven for 15 minutes. Let rest. Place in a slow cooker and cover with barbecue sauce. Set to low for 4-6 hours. Serve one meatball per slider.
Meal 2: Slow Cooker Tikka Masala Chicken $4.78
- 1.5 lbs split chicken breasts, bones and skin removed, cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 pkt Saffron Road Tikka Masala Simmer Sauce
- 1 ½ C long grain rice
- 3 C water
Directions: Place the chicken in a small slow cooker. Pour the sauce over the top, cover, and set to low for 6 hours. When ready to serve, Place the rice and water in a large saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes, until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender. Serve the chicken over the rice.
Meal 3: Slow Cooker Roasted Pork Loin with Mashed Sweet Potatoes and Broccoli $8.29
- 2 lbs pork loin
- salt (pantry)
- pepper (pantry)
- 3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
- 3 T butter (pantry)
- ¼ C milk or half n half (pantry)
- 2 crowns broccoli, cut into florets
- salt (pantry)
- olive oil (pantry)
Directions: Place the pork loin in a slow cooker and cover liberally with salt and pepper. Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours. About 45 minutes before serving, place the sweet potatoes in a saucepan and cover with water. Boil until tender, about 30 minutes. Mash with the butter and enough milk or half n half to make creamy. Place the broccoli on a rimmed baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil to coat lightly. Roast in a 425°F oven until crisp-tender, about 20-25 minutes.
Meal 4: Simple Pasta $4.74
- 1 jar Meijer pasta sauce, any flavor
- 1 box Mueller pasta, any variety
- 1 pkg Kraft shredded mozzarella
Directions: In a saucepan, heat the pasta sauce. Prepare the pasta by boiling per package directions. Serve with the shredded mozzarella.
Meal 5: Smoked Sausage with Rice and Vegetables $4.45
- 1 pkg Eckrich smoked sausage, any variety
- 1 pkg Rice A Roni, any flavor
- 1 pkg Bird’s Eye frozen vegetables, any variety
Directions: Place the sausage on a baking tray and bake in a 400°F oven for 20 minutes, until skin just starts to split. Prepare the rice and vegetables according to package directions.
Meal 6: Lemon Pepper Chicken, Roasted Potatoes, and Collard Greens $8.12
- 3 lbs split chicken breasts
- lemon pepper seasoning (pantry)
- 3 bunches collard greens, washed and chopped roughly
- 3 cloves garlic (pantry)
- 3 T olive oil (pantry)
- 4 lbs Russet potatoes, scrubbed and diced into 1 inch pieces
- 3 T olive oil (pantry)
- salt (pantry)
Directions: Place the chicken in a baking dish and cover liberally with lemon pepper. Cover with foil and bake in a 350°F oven for 2 hours, until no pink remains towards the bone. An hour before serving, place the potatoes on a rimmed baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake on a rack under the chicken for about an hour, turning every 15 minutes. About 20 minutes before serving, saute the garlic in 3 T olive oil in a deep pan. Add the collard greens and saute until tender, about 15 minutes.
