For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry! You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week!
- This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
- All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price.
Summer has officially begun! It’s time to have some amazing times with family and friends, and make some memories. Here are some great ways to feed your family in a hurry so you can have more time outside, enjoying the weather! Meijer has great prices this week, making these meals a great buy as well!
Meal 1: Pretzel Chicken with a Simple Salad $7.54
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced in half to make 2 thin cutlets each
- 1 egg, whisked (pantry)
- ½ pkg Pepperidge Farms pretzel Goldfish crackers, crushed
- nonstick cooking spray (pantry)
- 1 bag Dole Salad mix, any variety
- 1 lb Beefsteak tomatoes, chopped
- Salad dressing of choice (pantry)
Directions: Spray a baking sheet with the nonstick cooking spray. Place the egg in a shallow bowl and the crushed pretzel crackers in another shallow bowl. Coat the chicken in the egg, then in the pretzels. Place on the baking sheet. Bake in 425°F oven for 20-30 minutes, until no pink remains in the thickest part of the chicken. Mix the salad mix and tomatoes. Top with salad dressing.
Meal 2: Blue Ribbon Burgers and Tomato Avocado Salad $9.74
- 1 ½ lbs ground chuck
- 3 T Montreal Steak Seasoning (pantry)
- 1 bottle Kraft Blue Cheese Salad Dressing
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 lb Beefsteak tomatoes
- 1 avocado
- 1 t garlic salt (pantry)
- ½ t ground black pepper (pantry)
- 3 T olive oil (pantry)
- 2 T red wine vinegar (pantry)
Directions: Mix the ground chuck and seasoning well; form into 4 patties. Grill or broil, basting with the blue cheese dressing. Serve on buns with extra blue cheese dressing. To make the salad, mix the remaining ingredients.
Meal 3: Portobello Burgers with Grilled Pineapple and Asparagus $6.98
- 4 Portobello mushroom caps, brushed clean
- 2 T olive oil (pantry)
- 4 hamburger buns
- ½ cored pineapple, cut into rings
- 1 bunch asparagus, rinsed and the bottoms snapped off
Directions: Brush the portobello caps with olive oil. Place the caps, sliced pineapple, and asparagus on the grill, arranging so the asparagus doesn’t fall through the grate. Grill until the caps are hot and just starting to char, and the pineapple is glazed. Serve the caps on buns with your favorite condiments.
Meal 4: Pasta with Meat Sauce $6.24
- 1 jar Prego pasta sauce, any variety
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 1 lb Mueller’s Pasta, any variety
- grated parmesan cheese (pantry)
Directions: Brown the ground beef until no pink remains. Heat the sauce to simmering. Add the drained meat to the sauce and simmer 10 minutes. Boil the pasta as directed on the package.
Meal 5: Beanie Weenies with Salad $5.67
- 1 lb Oscar Mayer hot dogs, cut into pieces (*if you purchased hot dog last week that were on sale for $1-$1.25 along with coupons, you can save a little here!)
- 2 cans Campbell’s Chunky Baked Beans, any variety
- 1 bag Dole Salad Mix
- Salad Dressing of choice (pantry)
Directions: Place the beans and hot dog pieces into a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Simmer 15-20 minutes, until hot dogs plump. Serve with salad.
Meal 6: Pulled Pork and Fries $8.42
- 3 lbs Pork Shoulder
- 1 jar barbecue sauce (pantry)
- 1 pkg hamburger buns
- 1 bag Ore Ida fries, any variety
Directions: Place the pork in a large slow cooker and cover with barbecue sauce. Cover and set to low for 8-10 hours. When pork is tender, remove from slow cooker. Pull apart with two forks, discarding any fat. Return to the slow cooker for 30 minutes on low. Prepare the fries as directed on the package. Serve pork on buns.
There are some awesome meals for the week that take very little effort. You can feed your family of four for only $44.59!
