For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based on a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

Meal 1:  Slow Cooker Shredded Beef Tacos  $9.89

  • 1 ½ lb round steak
  • ½ jar Meijer salsa, any variety
  • 1 10 count package Old El Paso soft tortillas
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • ½ pkg Kraft shredded Mexican cheese

Directions:  Place the steak in a slow cooker.  Pour the salsa over the top, cover, and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Remove the steak, shred, and discard any fat or bones.  Return to the slow cooker and stir.  Make tacos using the tortillas.  Top with avocado and cheese.

Meal 2:  Chicken Corn Chowder  $3.78

  • 1 lb chicken thighs
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen corn
  • 1 box Swanson chicken stock
  • 1 t olive oil (pantry)
  • 2 carrots, diced (pantry)
  • 2 ribs celery, diced (pantry)
  • 1 onion, diced (pantry)
  • 1 C sour cream (pantry)
  • Salt and pepper (pantry)

Directions:  Saute the carrots, celery, and onion in the oil in a stockpot.  Add the chicken, corn, and stock.  Simmer until the chicken is tender.  Remove from the pot, cut up the meat and discard the skin and bones.  Return the meat to the pot.  Add the sour cream and stir well.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Meal 3:  Peach Barbecue Pork Loin with Baked Beans  $6.97

  • 2 lb boneless center cut pork loin
  • 1 can Meijer peaches in juice, diced
  • 1 T barbecue seasoning (pantry)
  • 1 T soy sauce (pantry)
  • 1 large can Bush’s baked beans

Directions:  Place the pork loin in a slow cooker.  In a small bowl, mix the peaches, barbecue seasoning, and soy sauce.  Pour over the loin, cover, and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Heat the beans to simmering for 20 minutes.

Meal 4:  Homemade Pizza Muffins  $3.99

  • 2 ½ C flour (pantry)
  • 1 pkg yeast (pantry)
  • 1 t honey or sugar (pantry)
  • 1 C warm water (pantry)
  • 2 T olive oil (pantry)
  • 1 t salt (pantry)
  • 1 jar True Goodness organic pizza sauce
  • 1 pkg Armour pepperoni
  • 1 pkg Kraft shredded mozzarella

Directions:  In a bowl, place the yeast, honey, and water.  Allow the mixture to begin to foam, about 5 minutes.  Add in the flour, oil, and salt.  Mix until a dough forms.  Cover and place in a warm place for 15 minutes.  Punch down and knead in the bowl for 30 seconds.  Oil a large muffin pan and press the ¼ C balls of the dough into a cup shape in the pan.  Fill with sauce, pepperoni, and cheese.  Bake in a 425°F oven until browned, about 12 minutes.

Meal 5:  Slow Cooker Beefy Mac  $4.74

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar Meijer pasta sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 1 lb Meijer elbow macaroni

Directions:  Brown the ground beef.  Place in a slow cooker with the pasta sauce, garlic, and 1 jar of water.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Turn to high, add the pasta, and cover.  Cook for 20 minutes, or until the pasta is tender.

Meal 6:  Orange Chicken and Rice  $2.36

  • 2 lb chicken thighs
  • 1 egg, whisked (pantry)
  • 2 T cornstarch (pantry)
  • 2 T olive oil (pantry)
  • 1 orange (zest and juice)
  • 3 T soy sauce (pantry)
  • 1 ½ T brown sugar (pantry)
  • ½ t grated ginger (pantry)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 1 t cornstarch (pantry)
  • dash red pepper flakes (pantry)
  • 2 C rice (pantry)
  • 4 C water (pantry)

Directions:  In a bowl, whisk the egg and 2 T cornstarch until frothy.  Dip the chicken in the mixture and fry in a hot pan with the oil until no pink remains in the meat.  While the chicken is cooking, place the orange juice and zest in a small pan.  Mix in the remaining ingredients, bring to a simmer and allow to thicken.  Remove and allow to cool for a few minutes.  Place the rice and water in a large saucepan.  Cover and bring to a simmer for 20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.  Serve the sauce over the chicken and rice.
