Meijer mPerk Program Updates & New Changes
I’ve mentioned in our Facebook group that changes were coming to the mPerk program. Well, here are those updates dropping this week (starting 1/23).
Here are the new things you can expect to find with the mPerks program:
First, if you are unfamiliar with the mPerk program, I highly suggest you check out my detailed post on how the Meijer mPerks program works.
mPerks rewards now start themselves
You know those personalized rewards you earn? Remember you had to go in and clip them, in order to use them? Remember when you had to go back and clip your earned reward? And I bet you probably forgot to do that a time or two, right?
Well, no more. Now, personalized rewards will automatically be clipped to your account. Again, this is for the personalized rewards. So, if you have a personalized reward to get $7 bucks back in reward when you spend $200, it will automatically drop into your account once you have earned it. So, no more going back in to clip it. AND, once you have earned that reward, it will automatically add the new personalized reward to your account so you can keep on earning!
I love this update. Sometimes I forgot to back and check to see if I earned a reward or even to clip it. No more, this will automatically be done for you, saving you the time and worry about doing this yourself.
The thought process behind many of these updates was Meijer thinking about the customer and their journey from start to finish. Meijer’s goal with this update is to cut down on time spent logging into your account to clip rewards and set up new personalized rewards.
Next, you will get alerts and be able to track your progress. Not sure how close you are to earning your next reward? You will be able to track your progress through the Meijer app or on mPerks.com This is something we have been able to do for a while. But, with the new update, you can get an alert through push notifications on your mobile device. And, you will be alerted on your mobile device whenever you start and earn the reward. So, again, another update that I am going to love.
**Be sure you enable the alerts in your mPerk account so that you can use this feature. AND, if you don’t use the mPerk mobile app, and you use the desktop version, you will still have this alert option. When you log into your mPerk account from the desktop, an alert will pop up about your personalized reward.
Meijer Weekly Ad
If you have used the mPerk app to look at the weekly ad, it only gave you a list option. No more. Now, when you look at the weekly ad through your mPerk app, you will see the full ad (the list option will still be available, but now you have options).
No more automatic clipped coupons
This one may be a bummer for many of you. But, it’s also part of the updates. No longer will coupons automatically be clipped to your account for you. I loved this feature, but due to many of the manufacturer coupon policy refinements, Meijer is not able to offer this option.
This also means that you cannot clip all the coupons at once like before. You have to clip them individually!
However, even with this feature being taken away, Meijer is determined to continue to refine the mPerk features to engage their customers. With that in mind, the more you use your mPerk, the better and accurate your coupons and personalized rewards will be.
What about the limited amount of personalized rewards in my account?
Many of us have noticed limited amount of personalized mPerk rewards in our account. We used to have up to eight personalized mPerk rewards. Now many of us have only three or four. This is just a temporary issue folks. Meijer has been working behind the scenes to figure out the best approach on personalized mPerk rewards, and how many each person should have. So, please be patience while they continue to tweak this one. In the meantime, please use your mPerk account. The more you use it, the better your rewards will get.
Although you will no longer have automatic clipped coupons, you will see relevant coupons to YOU showing up at the top of the coupons to clip. So, be sure you are using your mPerk account each time so they can track what you are buying.
Do you have a baby, but don’t have the baby rewards? I asked about this (since many of you reported not having it anymore).
Again, this is part of Meijer tweaking the mPerk personalized reward program. However, Meijer strongly encourages you to use your account for every single purchase. Going forward, you will see your mPerk coupons and rewards focus more on the things YOU are buying. So, your mPerk account may look different from your friend’s, other shoppers, etc. So, please keep this in mind. Meijer is listening to your concerns, and working hard to make updates to keep YOU, their customer happy.
Update on the search function
Many of you have expressed your frustration about not being able to use the search feature accurately. Meijer is aware of this and is working on an update to make sure the search function works correctly (you will not see this update right away, but it’s coming down the pipeline in the next few months). I was informed Meijer updated this feature, making it more easier for you to search for items! YAY! (updated 4/5)
What about being able to add more receipts manually?
Many of you asked about being able to upload additional receipts manually to your mPerk account when you forgot to use your mPerk account (or your husband forgot to enter your mPerk account at the checkout).
Meijer will be looking into this option and will update us with an answer sometime down the road.
What about the issue many of us have when you go to return an item, but lose your mPerk earned reward through this process?
This was a great feedback tip to Meijer. This was something not thought of on their end or was aware of it being an issue. Now, it’s on their radar, and we can expect to hear back about this issue soon.
Many of you gave me a lot of questions and feedback about the Meijer mPerk program. Thank you. That feedback has been given to Meijer, and they plan to look into those concerns and address it.
What about free mPerk codes/offers?
At this time, those will continue to happen randomly. Meijer is always looking this piece over and will see how they continue to improve their offers and continue to have loyal shoppers (I shared information given to me from you all about what Kroger does w/ their Friday freebie program). Again, this is something Meijer will look at and consider how best to serve their shoppers! So, stay tuned!
What happens to my current rewards? Will I lose them?
No, you will not lose your current reward if you are working towards it. Once you earn it (reach the threshold), the earned reward will automatically be added to your mPerk account. (so again, turn on the notifications).
What about the reward rolling over?
Let’s say you have a $200 total purchase personalized rewards that you’re in middle of earning. You have spent about $150 bucks so far. Then, the updates happens to your mPerk account. Here’s how that will go down:
In the scenario where a customer has $150 towards a ($200) total basket reward and spends $250 – Once a customer reaches their spend threshold to earn a reward, the reward is auto clipped for them. In order to start the next total basket reward, the customer would need to transact again with a qualifying purchase. The spend from this new transaction would start and add progress to the new reward, not the excess from the previous transaction.
To further clarify what this means: The excess amount that was spent, $100 in your scenario, will not go towards the next reward. The next reward, if it is available, will start with the next transaction and will only record progress from that transaction and any moving forward until it is earned.
This means, that you need to be mindful of this. If you can, only buy $50 worth of items to get to the threshold, then have it start over, so you’re future items will count. {Meijer did mention they will discuss the possibility of having the excess amount rollover, but for now, this is how it will work.}
Can you unclip a personalized reward?
You are unable to unclip a reward once it has been earned, but you can choose which transaction you apply it to. Just as before, when you get to checkout and enter your mPerks ID, the credit card reader will ask if you want to use specific rewards on the transaction. You can choose “no” to save it for a future transaction. Just make sure you redeem it within 4 weeks from the date you earned the reward.
For an example, let’s say you have the personalized total basket reward, plus an apparel reward. Maybe you don’t want to use the apparel reward (because you don’t buy many apparel items from Meijer. But let’s say you brought $10 worth of apparel items while you have this reward).
When a reward auto starts for a customer, they will not be able to unclip it. But, in your scenario, the amount spent on apparel in that transaction would go towards the apparel reward AND the total basket reward.
Overall
I can’t (and they can’t ) promise each issue will be fixed to our liking, but they are listening. They read what you write on their Facebook page, IG account and twitter account. They love to hear from you.

Hi, thanks for all that you do for us! I’ve posted this over in the FB group on the info post you made, but I’m having problems with progress towards a reward I was making before the switch transferring over. The new updated area didn’t show my progress, I checked it a few minutes ago and that whole reward category is gone. I’ve checked all 3 tabs. I’m gonna check tomorrow then maybe call them. Is that what you suggest?
Hey Lisa, you’re welcome. Yes, that would be my recommendation is to give them a call. I know w/ the new updates, kinks are still being worked out. However, it doesn’t hurt to call and have them help you straighten it out! Good luck!
