Are you looking to make extra money this year, but not sure how to get started? One way to make money that many people don’t consider is through old appliances. I’m sharing tips on 7 Ways to Make Money off Old Appliances. Check out these ways you can make money off of old appliances, even when you no longer want them in your house.
7 Ways to Make Money off Old Appliances
Sell On a Facebook Garage Sale Group-Not sure what to do with those old appliances? Try selling them in a Facebook Garage Sale Group. These groups make buying and selling fairly easy. Look for a garage sale group in your local area to make things even easier. I successfully sold a small deep freezer that I had two summers ago to a local couple. Be sure to take clear pictures of your item(s) and make sure they are clean. Tip: If you do decide to do this, make sure you have someone else at your house with you… just in case. People on Craigslist and Facebook groups can be crazy.
Scrap Your Old Appliances-Although it’s questionable how much money you would get from scrapping old appliances, you can get some money for them. I would only recommend doing this if the appliances do not work and are scrap worthy.
Sell the Various Parts of the Appliances-Repair shops around your town buy old appliances for spare parts. Contact those appliance stores in your area to see if they’re purchasing appliances. You may not get a ton of money from going this route, but some money is better than nothing when it comes to getting rid of your junk.
Local Auction-Local auctions are a great way to make money off of your old appliances. Auctions typically allow you to make the most money off of your appliances. People who attend auctions will big on the appliances they want. Of course, you’ll have to split the price with the auctioneers.
Sell to an Energy Company- A lot of energy companies will pay you to take your old appliances away. Some offer a $50 credit and some offer a $100 credit. Contact your local energy company to see what they offer to come and take your old appliances off your hands. Even if you get an “energy” credit you’ll be making money in some capacity.
Tax Credit-When you make a donation, you do get tax credits. Make sure if you decide to go this route, you get a tax receipt. That way when tax season rolls around, you have proof of the donation you made and you can get a tax credit for it.
Upcycle- If you have an old fridge or stove, look for ways you can upcycle it to eventually sell. With places like Pinterest, you have an endless resource for ideas and inspiration.
It’s nice when we can make extra money like this on the side. Selling old items, like appliances, can help you earn extra cash to help alleviate the stress in your life. What are some ways you have made money off of old appliances?
